With this home being situated on Lake Superior, the owner wanted to unify and blend the appearance of the house and garage with their marine setting.

The beauty of the lake was enhanced not only by the arches of the arbours, but also by five strategically positioned, lighted cedar posts. Four posts are located around the driveway and one is close to the home’s entrance. The cedar posts tie into the nautical theme with accents of mooring rope wrapped around them.

The paving stone colours of Antique Brown and Sierra Grey compliment the distinct blue colour of the home and the detached garage. The stone’s grid pattern also mimics the grid found on the sail at the top of the home. A ramp walkway runs from the driveway to the front entrance. The ramp was installed, in lieu of stairs, in order to accommodate wheelchair access the fence arches are in union with the home’s roof pitch. The lattice pattern resembles the grid on the top sail of the house, blending the marine setting with the appearance of the house and garage.

This view was taken from the entrance of the home, which faces away from the lake. With extensive landscape techniques, we were able to create an interconnected outdoor living area. The lake atmosphere encircles the home, using the framing arches and the lighted nautical themed cedar posts.
